I don’t write reviews - I was compelled through sheer gratitude and satisfaction of the work and professionalism of JC. The only person to give me straight answers, and didn’t try to sell me on replacing an entire garage door when a fix was… more on Google
RepairHow to choose a garage door company
Pick a garage door company that answers the phone (day or night if your door is stuck), gives you a written price before any work, offers a repair before pushing a new door, has plenty of recent, detailed reviews, and has an owner you can actually reach. Be wary of town-named listings with no owner or address, and of prices that only appear once the truck is in your driveway.
A garage door call usually comes at a bad moment: a spring just snapped, the car is stuck inside, or the door won’t close at night. That is exactly when it is easiest to hire the wrong company. Here is what to look for, written by a company that wants to be measured by it.
What to look for, and how we measure up
A real person answers, 24/7
A door stuck open at night is a security problem, and voicemail means you call the next listing.
Armored: JC answers the line himself, day or night, in English or Spanish: (910) 760-1466.
A written price before any work
Prices that appear only after the work is done are how a $300 job becomes a $900 bill.
Armored: Every job gets a written price first, and our typical prices are public. The $79 service call is waived when you approve the repair.
Repair before replacement
Most problems are springs, cables, rollers or openers. A sound door rarely needs replacing.
Armored: We show you what is worn and give you options; you choose. Customers mention it in their reviews (below).
Many recent, detailed reviews
Specific reviews that name the person, the job and the town are hard to fake.
Armored: 5.0 stars from 81 Google reviews, every one five stars, and JC replies to them. Read them all.
An owner you can reach
When something goes wrong after the job, you want the person who stands behind it.
Armored: Veteran-owned and family-owned, run by JC Antunez from Franklinton, NC. Meet JC.
Insured, and clear about fees
Springs and heavy doors can damage property if a job goes wrong.
Armored: Insured. After-hours visits carry a dispatch fee we tell you before we come out.
Shows up when promised
A missed window means another day with the car stuck.
Armored: “Fast / on time” is the most common theme in our reviews.
Questions to ask on the first call
- Is the price written, and do I get it before you start?
- Is the service call fee waived if I approve the repair?
- For springs: will you replace both, sized to my door’s weight?
- Are you insured? Can you send proof?
- Who answers if the door acts up after you leave?
- Is there an after-hours fee, and how much?
- What is the legal name of your company, and who will come out?
Red flags
- No price until the truck is in your driveway. A good company can give you a range on the phone and a written price before work.
- A very cheap service call ad. A low teaser fee is often made back with an inflated repair.
- Pressure to replace the whole door when one part failed, or “today only” pricing.
- Replacing only one spring. They wear out together; one alone brings you back for a second visit.
- Listings named only after your town with no owner name, no business details and few or brand-new reviews. Many are lead sellers that sell your call to whoever pays.
- Reviews that are all short, vague and posted the same week.
- Cash only, no paperwork. You want an invoice with the company’s name on it.

Quick response, honest answers and good installation of a garage door opener to replace a bad service from another company. JC explained everything and helped with car garage door switch calibration. I can't say enough good things about this company.
Reasonable price · OpenersI called with an issue involving a commercial door, and the technician arrived promptly. He was professional, friendly, and took the time to clearly explain the problem and the required repairs. The pricing was fair and transparent, and the issue was resolved quickly and efficiently.
